Wholesome Direct Breaks Big Fields Of Mistria News

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the hectic pace of indie news this summer, take a relaxing break with Wholesome Direct and the best of all showcase hosts, Jenny Windom. Not that the break means a halt to indie news! This warm embrace of a showcase boasts some of the most hype announcements of the season, including the 1.0 release date for a game many indie fans have been holding their breath for. It’s actually unfair how all of the showcase’s games feel like must-plays, but below I’ve collected some of my favorites.

Fields of Mistria

I was not going to keep you waiting on this one. The long-awaited release date for Fields of Mistria is August 5! So, mark your calendars and clear your schedules. Can I also just mention getting a glimpse of chicken mounts, Juniper’s child, a wedding scene, and a fortune teller setting up their stall next to the forge?

Spirit Crossing

I want to ride a Fluffulo so badly! Spry Fox’s title has had its ups and downs with Netflix suddenly dropping interest in the gaming space, but the team is ready to open their world up to the public. The open beta is now live, so you can join in.

Discounty: People or Profits?

Oh no, I have to go back. Just when I though I was out, they pull me back in with a free expansion where I can rebuild the town, watch three new endings, and upgrade my nasty mobile home? The new content is out now on Steam and is coming to other platforms in July.

Spiritstead

The Spiritstead demo is out today and that’s all I want to be doing right now. Look how gorgeous that art is. Also, did anyone catch the moment in the trailer where you unlock a spirit by putting a chicken in the fire, or did I imagine that?
