On The Radar: Trash Goblin, Bloodletter, And Lake Of Creatures

Gather ’round indie fans because I’ve got one heck of an assortment for you today! Similar in neither play style or art style, Trash Goblin, Bloodletter, and Lake of Creatures all share one thing, you should definitely have them on your radar.

Trash Goblin

Trash Goblin is out in Early Access at this very moment, and anyone jumping in now will find a combination of PowerWash Simulator and relaxing shopkeeping. Meditative is the name of the game here — though I see some little-fleshed-out mechanics that could put a little more fire under my work. The basic run of a day consists of greeting customers who will ask for some trinket or other. Then it’s my job to dig through my bag of found items, scrub everything up clean, or even meld things together to make something totally new, to make something the purchaser wants.

Bloodletter

I love a good bolt from the blue — especially if it comes along with killer art and unsettling Medieval vibes. Still in development, Bloodletter sets you up as a healer, with cards representing your skills. The goal is to treat all your patients, increasing their health and purity before they shuffle off their mortal coils. Each round threatened some aspect of their wellbeing, as well as their belief in your abilities. Even in its current skin-and-bones state, it’s hard to put down.

Lake Of Creatures

Let’s end on a silly note. Lake of Creatures is a ridiculous twin-stick-shooter/fishing roguelike with a curious mystery at its center. Killing mutant fish — you’ll know the hostile ones by their buggy eyes — and reeling in the catch of the day will net you money, and upgrades, as well as getting you one step closer to uncovering what’s making everything in the lake so bent out of shape.
