Hades II isn’t far off. Well, its release into Early Access isn’t too far in the future, at least. Supergiant Games, the developers behind Bastion, Pyre, and, of course, Hades, have announced a technical test of the studio’s upcoming action Roguelike sequel.
Supergiant announced the technical test on Twitter/X today, urging potential testers to sign up on the Hades II Steam page. There’s no information on when the test will officially begin or what the roadmap looks like as the game enters its big next phases of development. Although, the studio’s message makes it sound like we will be able to get our hands on a version of Hades II very soon.
The technical test doesn’t have a set duration at this time. Supergiant’s post on Steam regarding the test estimates that those who have access to Hades II can play for “longer than a week, shorter than a month.” This test will only contain a sliver of content compared to the initial Early Access release, and a small number of players will be accepted to play. Its purpose is to weed out issues the development team hasn’t experienced themselves in order to tighten up the experience before letting in the masses shortly after the testing period ends.

Following in its predecessor’s footsteps, Hades II was revealed at The Game Awards in 2022. Although, instead of jumping into the deep end of Early Access development like the original Hades, Supergiant Games has been holding onto the project until it’s the right time for the public to play and share their feedback. Currently, Hades II is slated for a Q2 2024 time frame for release, which seems to still be the case given today’s news.
