Do you feel that sizzle in the air? Things are heating up with so many showcases hitting hot and heavy! The MIX’s debut on Monday lit the fuse, and there’s no stopping the explosion now. You can keep track of all the shows popping off over this busy season here. But while it can be difficult to remember everything as the shows blast through indie after indie, fear not! Here are the helpful Steam event pages that will let you find that one game that caught your eye and get it on your wishlist.
The MIX
It’s hard to pick highlights for a show so packed, but my heart absolutely melted seeing a frog soaking happily in the dark world of Well Dweller. So, make sure to add that to your wishlist along with Husk Protocol, Entropy (which hits Early Access August 18), and Poly Fighter.
Midsummer Night’s Scream
Notorious coward that I am, this showcase had me saying NOPE while watching through my fingers. But I couldn’t resist saying yes to titles like Sucker For Love: Crush Landing, indie Fatal Frame, Echograph, and (just for Mike Towndrow) Lurks Within Walls.
Black Voices In Gaming
The first and easiest recommendation from this show’s lineup is Ourlands — which dropped the same day as the show aired. So, you can grab it right now. But you also won’t want to miss the amazingly titled next project from Strange Scaffold: Truck-kun is Supporting Me from Another World?!.
Latin American Games Showcase
The Latin American Games Showcase raised the bar for indie showcases this season with a mix of high-quality indies for any indie fan alongside fantastic pacing and production value. As the Steam event can attest, with titles ranging from fast-paced Hellclock DLC to the calming The Birdsong Tree, and everything in between.
Women-Led Games Showcase
I’m tickled that some of my very favorite spotlighted indies from this showcase are some of its darkest — of which there was no shortage. Blue Ridge Hunting gave us an Early Access release date, and Burn with Me is deeply compelling. Though I have to give a round of applause to the best horse/gaming website ever, The Mane Quest, and that team’s game in this race, Horses of Hoofprint Bay.
