While fans of the Survival/Action RPG Enshrouded expected it to rain down new features in Wake of the Water this month, the creators have announced a change of plan. The overflowing expansion is now set to launch on November 10 — a week already blessed with a flood of great indies. Despite the crush, this upcoming update has a lot to tempt players.

First and foremost, it looks like the team is making “significant changes” to combat. Part of what drew me to Enshrouded to begin with was its Valheim-like focus on fighting — well, that and the wingsuits — which gives it a lovely pacing between building up my beautifully appointed home base. The promise of sharper moves and a larger range of options is alluring. Enriching my homestead with irrigation tech and attempting to make my very own life-size sandcastle will also be great downtime activities.
Water is, of course, the central focus of the fresh content. Players can now dive into the depths to swim through ruins and test their luck against the elements. New fish will populate the waterways, and a fishing minigame will allow players to catch them all. You can even throw them together with a few unfamiliar water-based plants and see what you can whip up.

Semi-aquatic beasts will begin roaming the shores, like crabs, Veilwater Snapjaws, and — most importantly — tamable capybaras. If you take nothing else away from this news, it should be that pet capybaras are coming soon.
Though there is a lot to look forward to, Enshrouded is still in Early Access and doesn’t plan to hit 1.0 until a murky 2026 release window. Though it seems like a good time to hop back in to acquaint myself with all the changes before the final launch.
