It may not come directly after the big showcase, but no Summer Game Fest would feel complete without a Wholesome Direct. This year’s presentation highlighted nearly fifty heart-cheering indies, and to see them all yourself, you should definitely watch the entire thing here. Jenny Windom — one of The Indie Council’s core members — dazzles with hosting skills that alone are worth a full viewing. If putting another four-score titles on your wishlist seems overwhelming, however, here are the show’s games that particularly caught my eye.

Unique art, meditative puzzling, and fun vibes mean I’m ready to play Is This Seat Taken in August.
Let’s Build a Dungeon
So we’ve built a zoo and now there’s a whole new adventure to construct. But it’s not just developing the game, Let’s Build a Dungeon is a full-on indie dev simulator.
Big Hops
Get ready for some hot tongue action. Big Hops is a 3D action platformer joining the ranks of indie games that are keen to put their froggy protagonist’s mouth to good use.
Winter Burrow
Indie fans knew Winter Burrow was hitting Xbox — it debuted at Microsoft’s showcase last year — but now you can survive the cold months on even more platforms. The game is coming to Xbox, Switch, and PC.
The Guardian of Nature
Look at that art. Just look at it. Stunning. And episode one has just shadow dropped, so we get to see it in action immediately.
Everdeep Aurora
I just checked out Everdeep Aurora for PAX East, and I’m more enamored by it the more I play. Getting the release date here — July 10 — elicited one of my biggest reactions of the show.
Omelet You Cook
Who hasn’t had an angry chicken demanding to evaluate the quality of their breakfast? Omelet You Cook hatched during the showcase.
Gecko Gods
Time is a flat circle, and we’ve finally made a revolution on Gecko Gods. Sadly, there’s no date, but a new demo is up right now.
Hotel Galactic
This Spirited Away-adjacent title didn’t get the love it deserved last year. However, with a July 24 release date, it’ll hopefully get the flowers it deserves soon.
Discounty
On August 21, prepare to become a supermarket mogul and spread success to your community because Discounty is coming. If you can’t wait that long, there’s a demo up right now.
Fishbowl
You won’t believe how immediately pumped I was when I saw Fishbowl was not only in this showcase, but is also partnering with Wholesome Games Presents.
