Putting down Balatro has been challenging since it first took the world by storm in February. The poker-inspired roguelike deck builder continues to seize my attention on PC and Switch, but it’s finally ready to deal a new hand on the platforms most dangerous to our productivity and free will: mobile. Balatro is making its much anticipated arrival to iOS and Android on September 26.
The bizarre trailer leans into the mesmeric control Balatro tends to have on its fans, and how Jimbo the Joker will never relinquish our souls once we can carry him anywhere. As we grapple with that new reality, it’s wild to think of how successful Balatro’s run has been in the roughly seven months its been available. Outside of its initial critical and sales success, it recently received the Friends of Jimbo update, which added cosmetic cards skins based on games such as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Vampire Survivors, Among Us, and more. It’s first major gameplay update was also recently announced for a 2025 launch.

Balatro will be available on Apple Arcade, the App Store, and Google Play alongside existing versions on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, and PC. Be sure to check out our review of Balatro here.
