It’s a wrap on the four-day-long gaming extravaganza! As part of my PAX coverage, I have, as I traditionally do, written up thoughts every day on my personal and journalistic experience at the show. While this is typically a special feature for my Patreon supporters, I thought I’d share a few highlights from the week.

Day 1

“The night ended with a toast to found family. The faces around the table, and even most of those in the crowded hotel bar, were well-known and lit up with a sense of belonging. No matter where you exist in this industry, nights like this feel like coming home. Whether old friends I’d only met in person that day or new friends that felt like old friends, all gathered around to cheer the end of the first day of the convention.”

Day 2

“One of my longest days, today’s appointments stretched into the early evening. Every one that took place on the show worked slightly differently. Some set up a small private room. Some set aside a computer for press appointments, and some simply told me to have at the demo when a station became available. This last can be really tough to manage because of the appointments I have to keep throughout the day, and I certainly had to cut some of these less-planned demos short.”

Day 3

“The final piece of business today was to record a PAX edition podcast for Crossplay Conversations, featuring friends of the show Jacob McCourt, Luke Lewis, and Joseph Hooper. It will be the first hint into what I played and what’s high on my list. Sleep loss and enthusiasm crash together in each segment for some fun energy.”

Day 4

“Gaming conventions are an absolute whirlwind. You’re so busy tumbling around inside that it’s difficult to appreciate how wildly special everything happening around you is. But when the last appointment is done and final farewells said, it hits like a ton of bricks. PAX is over.”
