On The Radar: Forgotten Mines, What The Car, And Mirthwood

With Summer Game Fest and Steam Next Fest so incredibly close — and heaps of recently released can’t-miss game — its an absolute indie feast right now. I know that means plates are piled high right now, but there’s always room for a few more treats. Especially if the include vehicular mayhem, party strategy, and enchanting adventure.

What The Car?

You’ll have plenty of time to make room in your stomach for this ridiculous title by Triband, as it’s set to launch in September. Its many and increasingly chaotic levels require players to get a car from point A to point B. Sounds easy, right? Plus, there are bear friends cheering you on so there’s really no way to lose. Luckily, eager winners can taste a little glory in the game’s all new demo for Steam Next Fest.

Forgotten Mines

We have breaking news from deep underground: Forgotten Mines has a release date. The cute-but-tough strategy dungeon-crawler hits PC on July 23. My road to release is littered with scores of fallen teams. Dwarven mages, elven fighters, human thieves, all lie rotting on the cold, hard ground of the lost mines’ floors. Some of those were the sad result of just trying to figure out how everything works as the game’s looks as well as some of its sensibilities are a little old-school. But, to give the team all due credit, even failing is fun.

Mirthwood

If y’all caught The Indie Informer’s PAX West coverage on Mirthwood and felt disappointed to be left out of the adventure, your time has come! Mirthwood has a public demo out right now! No waiting for Steam Next Fest. No holding your breath for Keighley to take the stage. It’s up! Go make your way through a world of danger and delight. Will you become a warrior? Choose the simple life of a farmer? Move through high society? It’s up to you.
